The Beginning of the Blog

Hey anyone who cares,

I am starting a Blog. Mainly to improve my typing speed, but also to let everyone who might care some details bout the things going on in my life. Right now I am focusing on being a stay at home boyfriend, and musician. the best part about all of this so far is the amount of instruments I've begun to accrue. The latest addition is a '98 Fender Telecaster which happens to already be for sale if anyone is interested. The one before that is a 1956 Martin D-28. This has been a fun guitar to get to know after playing a D-18 for years.
Another cool part about making music is immortalizing it by recording an album which I did last year. It was one of the most exciting experiences I've had. We recorded at the Rubber Room in Chapel Hill with Jerry Brown. He was gracious enough to allow me to play his vintage Martins, which proved to be a rewarding and educational experience. The musician that played on it were Bobby Britt on fiddle, Andy Thorn on Banjo, Miles Andrews and Russell Johnson on Vocals, Charlie Rose on Bass, Jeff Stickley on Guitar, and myself on vocals, mandolin, drums, bass and guitar. I wrote the instrumentals:

Della's Walk
Sticks
Temperamental
Ghostwood
Sparkin' It
Lions

The other tunes on there are:

Please Be My Love- Monroe/Fields
Thunder Road- Russell Johnson
Piedmont Foothills- Johnny Buck, Rick Hauchman, Andy Thorn
You Don't Know Me Anymore- Jeff Turner
Steamboatin'- Andy Thorn.

Anyway, it was a great experience making music and playing these cool songs with some of my best friends. I can't wait to do it again, leaning a little more towards improvisational bluegrass.
Much Love,
Stick
